My name is Mike Budny and I am originally from Michigan, the “downriver” area. I currently reside in Minnesota with my wife (Leslie), daughter (Celine), and son (Devin).
My day job is in the retail corporate operations field and outside of work I enjoy cars, racing, gaming, and - of course - music.
My ”official” music background started in the early 90s as a kid learning drum rudiments and marching in drum corps. I quickly graduated to playing set and continue to call the drums my main musical talent.
In high school and college I played drums in a number of local Michigan bands and eventually moved to playing guitar and singing on a handful of recordings and few live shows with my brother, Chris.
Even though this would never be a profession for me, I always wanted to have a “legit” release available to the public right beside professional musicians. In 2019, I released my first single (1-2-3 Go) and in 2020 my first album (Bucket List).
After releasing a few singles and one album, I stepped away from assembling ”full feature” music for a while but continued to compose music as a hobby.
After accumulating a few polished tracks it was time to decide what to do with them. I have started releasing some of these tracks as instrumental singles and continue to work on new material to release over time, potentially in another full length album.
I create my music using a combination of live instruments, keyboards, and virtual instruments. Recording and mixing is done in GarageBand, final mastering and distribution is done utilizing LANDR - a great toolset and publishing service for artists, especially independent ones like myself.
